Artificial Turf Soccer Pitch - Kinsmen Park

Durham Region’s first outdoor, artificial soccer pitch extends playing season for Pickering Soccer and saves valuable City resources.

In partnership with the Pickering Soccer Club and through the use of a Trillium Grant, Pickering has been able to provide our residents with Durham Region’s first outdoor, artificial soccer pitch. This field will significantly extend the playing season for Pickering Soccer and help reduce wear and tear of the turf fields. It is estimated that a savings of about $7,500 per year will be achieved by eliminating the costly and labour intensive, cultural practices required to maintain healthy turf. This will also significantly reduce our carbon footprint on the environment by not requiring fertilizing, mowing, seeding or top-dressing via carbon producing equipment.
