Pickering is a rich and diverse
city, home to over 94,000 residents. Over the next 20 years,
the City will see intensification of its current urban centre
and the exciting new development of the Seaton Community in
Central Pickering. Through this growth, we will welcome
another 70,000 residents and 50,000 new jobs.
British settlers and French
missionaries and traders created a rich legacy upon which
Pickering was founded. Today, our city is represented by
cultures from around the world, each adding a unique quality
to our community. We're home to the largest immigrant
population per capita in Durham Region, which is reflected in
cultural events, places of worship and rich fibre of community
life.
With award-winning public
libraries, recently renovated recreation complex and lush
parkland, Pickering is proud to offer recreational and leisure
opportunities for all, from children's programs to youth and
seniors' centres. The arts is an integral part of city life.
