Bag To Nature

Indaco Manufacturing Ltd.

Indaco Manufacturing Ltd. offers the eco-friendly solution to the traditional plastic bag, and is an industry leader in the development of compostable films and pellet products. It manufactures Bag To Nature, the strongest compostable bags and liners on the market.

It began producing biodegradable film in the late 1980s then developed certified compostable bags and liners to meet environmentally-responsible regulations and the development of fast-action compost facilities. Its products are certified compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute in accordance to the ASTM standard D6400 – a standard created so consumers, composters, regulators and others can be assured the product will biodegrade as expected.

Bag To Nature bags are made from a proprietary blend of biodegradable polymers and are available in a wide range of sizes, including small kitchen bin liners, large cart liners and shopping bags for industrial, commercial, institutional and retail distribution.

Indaco has realized significant market expansion since relocating to Pickering in 2008. Bag To Nature bags and liners are sold across North America. Customers include Costco Canada, Wal-Mart USA, Target USA, Do It Best USA and, beginning this spring, Kmart USA, making Indaco a notable ambassador for the City of Pickering.

Indaco is the proud recipient of the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade Business Excellence Award 2010. In addition to the Board of Trade, it is a member of the following organizations: the Canadian Composting Council, the United States Composting Council, and the International Sanitation Supply Association.

Research and development have been the foundation of Indaco’s success. This spring, it will launch several new product lines, including Agricultural Film and Biotope Resins, The Single Pellet Solution. Both product lines are certified compostable and formulated by Indaco.

Agricultural Film is a replacement for traditional plastic mulch film used on commercial agricultural fields to suppress weeds and retain moisture in the soil. Large target markets include California and Mexico. Biotope Resins will be marketed to converters around the world looking to expand their conventional plastic bag business to include compostable products.

Indaco looks forward to continuing to develop new products and applications while also sharing its expertise with potential customers.  Indaco is a registered Eco-Business and sponsors a wide range of community organizations and events, including the following:

  • Pickering Ribfest held by the Rotary Clubs of Ajax and Pickering. In 2009, an Indaco staff member led the Green Team, appointed to focus on paperless advertising, waste diversion and promotion of public transportation. Organizers also negotiated a contract for Ribbers to provide reusable, recyclable or compostable food packaging. Indaco supplied all compost bags in 2009 and 2010.
  • Durham Sustain Ability’s “We have the Power Program” with a donation of 500 retail packages of Bag To Nature mini kitchen bags
  • City of Pickering’s Sustainable Pickering Program
  • Mother Teresa Catholic School’s composting program through the donation of compost bags used in classrooms for an organics collection program
