Fall 2005
When Cynthia Cusack purchased Jay & Jay Delivery Service Ltd. in 2004, her goal was to build on the success of the long-standing Durham Region business that had been established in 1978 and operated as a home-based business.

Cynthia's first move was to relocate the business to a 1,000-square-foot facility and expand the services offered to our business community. Within a year, Jay & Jay Delivery Service relocated again, this time to a 20,000-square-foot facility, where it offers storage, warehousing and inventory control for a growing list of clients.

In that time, Jay & Jay Delivery Service has expanded from 10 employees to 18 and added several five-ton trucks to its fleet. It now serves from St. Catharines to Kingston and offers scheduled services to Peterborough and Belleville. It has launched a new website, www.jdsexpress.com, that allows customers to place orders and track shipments.

Its location in Pickering and proximity to Hwy. 401 and the 407 ETR (Express Toll Route) is key to Jay & Jay Delivery Service's success. "We could only find the space we needed in Pickering. Lower taxes and lease prices made the city even more attractive," she says.

As a member of the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade, Cynthia has gotten to know many area businesses. "We enjoy the quality of life here," she says. "Pickering is simply the best place for us."
