  • What time do the Council Meetings start?

    • Council Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Council Chambers. Refer to Council & Committee Meeting Schedules for further details regarding time and locations for Council and Committee meetings.
  • Do I need a permit to build a fence?

    • No. Please refer to the Fence By-law (By-law 425/76, as amended, for further information.)  [link opens 40kb PDF file] 
  • Can I get a permit to park on the street in the City of Pickering?

    • No. The City of Pickering does not issue parking permits. Please refer to the City of Pickering Traffic & Parking By-law as amended, for further information regarding parking.
  • Where can I get a passport?

  • Who can I contact regarding animals running at large and barking dogs?

    • Contact our Animal Services Division at 905.420.4666 or 905.683.7575 or 1.877.420.4666.   For more information about services, lost and found/adoption and Emergency contact numbers, visit our Animal Services page.
  • Can I apply for a birth certificate at the City?

    • The City of Pickering does not issue birth certificates. The Ministry of Consumer and Business Services is responsible for processing applications and issuing birth certificates. Go to www.cbs.gov.on.ca/mcbs/english/births&marriages.htm For further information.
  • What documents do I need to apply for a marriage licence?

    • Full details regarding identification and fees are provided on the Clerks information page. A licence to marry may be obtained from the Clerk's Division, City of Pickering, One The Esplanade, Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm.
  • What do I need to do before installing a swimming pool?

    • You should review the City By-law respecting residential fences and swimming pool enclosures and file an Application for Swimming Pool Enclosure Permit.  Download the Pool Enclosure Package for full details.  The package provides fencing details, an inspection checklist, safety tips, sample letters, By-law 425/76, an Application for Variance to Fence By-law, and the Application for Swimming Pool Enclosure Permit.
