November 25, 2003 [PICKERING]: Eco-Tec Inc. was selected to supply an Acid Purification Unit (APU) for the Tai Yuan Iron and Steel (Group) Company Limited (TISCO) operation in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, People's Republic of China. TISCO is China's largest stainless steel manufacturer and is among the world's largest producers of stainless steel. The Eco-Tec APU, is the steel industry standard for the purification and recovery of steel pickling acids. Steel pickling acids are considered spent and are discarded when contaminated with excessive dissolved metals. The cost of replacing the acid and the high cost of waste treatment are important considerations. The APU separates dissolved metals and recycles pickling acid. Eco-Tec's patented Recoflo® process uses only water, no other chemicals are required. With the APU the composition of the pickling bath is maintained at a metals level well below the critical waste contaminated level. This leads to a more consistent surface finish and faster pickling rate. TISCO was founded in 1934, with current production capacity of four million tons.
