[PICKERING]:
Eco-Tec Inc. was selected to supply an Acid Purification Unit (APU)
for the Tai Yuan Iron and Steel (Group) Company Limited (TISCO)
operation in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, People's Republic of China.
TISCO is China's largest stainless
steel manufacturer and is among the world's largest producers of
stainless steel. The Eco-Tec APU, is the steel industry standard
for the purification and recovery of steel pickling acids. The
benefits of the system include - reduced chemical usage, lower
waste treatment costs, enhanced product quality and a consistent,
predictable process.
Dr. Phillip Simmons, President and
CEO of Eco-Tec Limited, welcomed senior TISCO executives - Mr. Hu
Yuting, Chief Engineer, Mr. Lin Qizeng, Deputy Director Planning
Committee, Mr. Xing Dechuan, President, Design Institute, Mr. Chen
Minghuang, Chief Design Engineer, Design Institute, Mr. Chen Ziqi,
Manager, An Feng, Manager and Mr. Zhou Baocang, Translator (TISCO
Technical Centre) to Eco-Tec's Pickering facility.
The event included Dan McTeague, Member of Parliament for
Pickering, Ajax and Uxbridge, David Ryan, Mayor-Elect, City of
Pickering, Lynn Winterstein, Manager of Economic Development, City
of Pickering, Ron Taylor, Economic Development Officer, City of
Pickering and Joan Wideman, Vice President of the Ajax Pickering
Board of Trade. Following a buffet lunch the group toured
Eco-Tec's manufacturing plant and Eco-Tec's water treatment
facility at Ontario Power Generation.
Steel pickling acids are considered
spent and are discarded when contaminated with excessive dissolved
metals. The cost of replacing the acid and the high cost of waste
treatment are important considerations. The APU separates
dissolved metals and recycles pickling acid. Eco-Tec's patented
Recoflo® process uses only water, no other chemicals are
required.
With the APU the composition of the
pickling bath is maintained at a metals level well below the
critical waste contaminated level. This leads to a more consistent
surface finish and faster pickling rate.
TISCO was founded in 1934, with
current production capacity of four million tons. TISCO has
established sound business relationships around the world and
imports/exports to all continents. TISCO was the first enterprise
to research and develop stainless steel in China. Currently TISCO
is the only company using advanced equipment and technology to
produce hot rolled plate, hot rolled coil, cold rolled sheet, rods
and seamless pipe.
Incorporated since 1970, Eco-Tec is
a recognized leader in the development of innovative purification
and recovery technologies, with over 1,500 systems commissioned in
47 countries around the world. Eco-Tec (Europe) Ltd., located in
the United Kingdom, manufactures systems specially designed by
