BIG NEWS FOR A LITTLE COMPANY

Intellimeter Canada of Pickering, Ontario has received National Meter Testing Facility Accreditation from Measurement Canada. On Wednesday, March 20, 2002, Mr. Alan Johnson, President of Measurement Canada, personally made the presentation to Warren Beacom, President and founder of Intellimeter. "This is a major accomplishment for Intellimeter," said Mr. Johnson of Measurement Canada. "We are very selective in who receives this accreditation and are pleased to be able to recognize Intellimeter in this way."

With the deregulation of the electrical industry in Ontario just around the corner, this is big news for a little company. "The vast majority of meter testing facilities in Canada are publicly owned," said Mr. Beacom. "For a small company like ours to be accredited by Measurement Canada is a monumental achievement."

Intellimeter Canada has been providing electronic metering solutions to commercial and residential clients since 1992. Until now the sealing of each meter had to be supervised by a Measurement Canada representative. By receiving certification, Intellimeter Canada can now seal meters on-site. "Certification means we can service our customers faster and with reduced overhead costs, both of which are great for business, says Mr. Beacom."

Intellimeter Canada has among its clients Pearson International Airport, the Air Canada Centre, the Vancouver Airport, IBM and Corrections Canada. Numerous residential and retail buildings in Toronto have also been metered by Intellimeter Canada. "People don't want to pay for their neighbours' hot showers or expensive accessories any more, which is what happens when utility costs are included as part of the rent in apartments and condominiums," says Mr. Beacom. "Metering provides residents with an accurate account of their energy consumption, so they pay only for what they use. This type of control encourages responsible energy use and is appealing to many consumers."

While many await deregulation with trepidation, Intellimeter Canada is ready to face the coming challenges with ingenuity and enthusiasm.
