Leash Free Area
at Grand Valley Park
The City of
Pickering has a designated
leash free area where dogs will still comply with the
Responsible Pet Ownership By-law while being off leash. The
City and the Leash Free Working Group worked
together for several years to find a suitable site.
The park officially opened in
the spring of 2010. The designated area is in Grand Valley Park,
located on the Third Concession, west of Valley Farm Road.
The designated leash free areas are signed and dog park rules
are posted. A dog waste
diversion station has also been provided adjacent to the
parking area.
The location of the main
leash free area is located within the park. As some users
may have difficulty accessing this main area, and to ensure
that all users can enjoy the benefits of a leash free park,
a smaller section will also be opened and located adjacent
to the parking lot.
