By-law Guide for Pickering Residents
FIREWORKS
Overview
Fireworks are fun and enjoyable,
however they can also pose a significant danger when used
irresponsibly. Fireworks By-law 6783/07 is in place to ensure
the responsible use of fireworks to protect the public and
property from avoidable accidents.
What you should know…
Fireworks are only permitted to
be set off on the statutory holiday weekends known as Victoria
Day long weekend or Canada Day long weekend. The setting off of
fireworks is prohibited at all other times.
Fireworks can not be set off on
any City lands, including parks and streets. Fireworks are only
permitted to be set off from private property, provided the
permission of the property owner has first been obtained.
Should you experience a concern
with respect to the setting off of fireworks, please contact the
City’s Customer Care Centre at 905.683.7575, Monday to
Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Outside of these hours,
please contact the Durham Regional Police Service at
