By-law Guide for Pickering Residents
ICE & SNOW CLEARING
Overview
Ice and snow on sidewalks,
walkways and footpaths present a significant danger and can
cause unnecessary and avoidable slips and falls. Ice & Snow
Clearing By-law 6650/06 contains provisions requiring residents
to clear all sidewalks abutting their property from ice and
snow.
What you should know…
After a snow fall, residents have
twenty-four hours to remove all snow and ice from any sidewalks
abutting their property. Failure to comply with this By-law may
result in the City removing the ice and snow from the sidewalk
at the property owner’s expense, with a 25% administration fee
added to the cost.
Should you experience a concern
with respect to ice and snow on a sidewalk or footpath, please
contact the City’s Customer Care Centre at 905.683.7575.
