ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Role
The Pickering Accessibility Advisory
Committee was formally established by by-law 6211/03, and held its
first meeting in April 2003. The Committee includes a Member of
Council. At least 50% of the membership of the Committee must
include members of the disabled community.
The responsibilities of the
Accessibility Advisory Committee include the following:
- To advise Council, once per year
about preparation, implementation and effectiveness of its
accessibility plan.
- To advise Council on the
accessibility for persons with a disability to a building,
structure or premises, or part of a building, structure or
premises, that Council purchases, constructs, renovates, leases
or which is provided to the Municipality as a capital facility.
- To review site plans and
drawings described in Section 41 of the Planning Act.
