Bill McLean Councillor McLean has been a City of Pickering resident since 1980. He was born and raised in Ajax where he attended elementary and secondary school. Bill and his spouse Diana currently reside in Pickering in Ward 2. He has two children, Shannon and Brandon, who have attended both public and high school in the Ward. On July 29, 1969, he joined the Toronto Police Force where he worked at various Divisions in the downtown core. The last 10 years of his service was spent at 53 Division where he was a uniformed Sergeant. He was also a member of the Public Order Unit. He retired from the Toronto Police Service on April 17, 2000 after more than 30 years service. During the course of his police service he received 59 letters of commendation for excellent police work and service to the citizens of Toronto. In 1999, he received his real estate license and has built a very successful real estate career with Re/Max First Realty in Pickering along with his daughter Shannon. First elected to council in November of 2000 Bill was re-elected in November 2003 and 2006 by a large majority and was acclaimed in October 2010. Bill has been actively involved with the community as a member of the Vaughan Willard School Community Council, the Frenchman’s Bay Festival, a member of the United Way Allocation Committee, and has served as a minor hockey, baseball and soccer coach or assistant. He sponsored the William Dunbar Annual Golf Tournament as well as the annual Breakfast with Santa at Vaughan Willard Public School. He is a strong supporter of Youth sports and prides himself on being the voice of the community on Council.
