The Chief Administrative
Officer (CAO) of the City of Pickering is appointed by City Council.
The CAO is responsible for the overall management of the Corporation
and its employees, ensuring policy development is completed for
presentation to Council and subsequently its implementation and
administration.
The Chief Administrative
Officer also acts as department head for the Administration
Department, which includes ultimate responsibility for the Customer Care
Centre.
It is the CAO's
responsibility to ensure that innovative programs and services are
developed and implemented to meet the ever-changing needs of the
community, while ensuring fiscal responsibility, and the added responsibilities
municipalities are faced with.
The CAO is responsible
for ensuring that Council directives are coordinated between departments
and relevant agencies while ensuring that the operations within
the organization are conducted within the framework of the values
and goals of the corporation.
In addition,
the CAO links with other government agencies, federal, provincial
and municipal, to provide Council with the necessary comprehensive
information they require to develop plans and policies.
In February of
2006 the City of Pickering announced the launch of sustainablepickering.com.
This website is the comprehensive resource for sustainability, what
it means to Pickering and how its neighbourhoods are becoming more
sustainable through new and innovative projects. If you have
not already viewed the site, I encourage you to do so and leave your
comments through the online feedback form.
