City of Pickering
Bill McLean was born and raised in Ajax
where he attended elementary and secondary school. On July 29, 1969, he joined
the Toronto Police Force where he worked at various Divisions in
the downtown core. His police experience included almost 15 years
in plainclothes and the Detective Office where he was a child/sexual
and domestic abuse investigator. The last 10 years of his service
was spent at 53 Division where he was a uniformed Sergeant, supervising
a platoon of male and female officers.
He retired
from the Toronto Police Service on April 17, 2000 after more than 30
years service. During the course of his police service he
received 59 letters of commendation for excellent police work and
service to the citizens of Toronto.
Bill and his
spouse Dianna currently reside in Pickering in Ward 2. He
has two children, Shannon and Brandon, who have attended both
public and high school in the Ward.

As well, Bill
has been involved with the community as a member of the Vaughan
Willard School Community Council, the Frenchman's Bay Festival, a
member of the United Way Allocation Committee, and has served as a
minor hockey, baseball and soccer coach or assistant.
Currently sponsor of the William Dunbar Annual Golf Tournament and
sponsors the Annual Breakfast with Santa at Vaughan
Willard Public School.
First elected
to council in November of 2000 Bill was re-elected in November 2003
by a large majority. In 1999, he received his real estate
license and has built a very successful real estate career with
Re/Max First Realty in Pickering.
