Pickering Holds First Meeting of Council
Pickering, ON, December 7, 2010 –
Last night, the City of Pickering held its First Meeting of
Council for the 2010 – 2014 municipal term of office, and
officially swore in the Members of Council inside the Council
Chambers.
Pickering’s Members of Council
are:
Mayor Dave Ryan
Jennifer O’Connell, Regional Councillor - Ward 1
Bill McLean, Regional Councillor - Ward 2
Peter Rodrigues, Regional Councillor - Ward 3
Kevin Ashe, City Councillor - Ward 1
Doug Dickerson, City Councillor - Ward 2
David Pickles, City Councillor - Ward 3
The Mayor and each Member of
Council had an opportunity to address the residents, friends and
family in attendance. Some of the prevalent themes included:
fiscal responsibility; accountability and transparency; economic
development; community partnership; and municipal service
delivery.
“I congratulate all of my
colleagues on Council who bring a collective wealth of
experience, commitment and ideas to this new term of office,”
said Mayor Dave Ryan. “Together, we will work in an accountable
and transparent manner for the betterment of Pickering, our
residents, businesses and community groups.”
