The Health & Fitness focus in Pickering
Has a jump start

The City of Pickering welcomes Heather Harrison to the Pickering Recreation Complex in the position of Coordinator, Health & Fitness. Heather, a certified exercise physiologist, fitness trainer and sport coach, has come to Pickering from the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport where she held the position of Outreach Coordinator for the highly successful ‘BodySense’ program – an initiative dedicated to fostering positive body image and self esteem in athletes. Heather’s extensive fitness administration background includes holding the positions of Fitness Officer at Seneca College and Fitness Facility Supervisor at Mohawk College. A dynamic individual, Ms Harrison is a seasoned leader, seeking out opportunities wherever she goes. Her leadership repertoire includes Head Conditioning Coach (Sheridan College Men’s Varsity Volleyball Team; Mohawk College Women’s Varsity Basketball Team; Junior Aeros Women’s Ice Hockey Team), Head Coach (Pink Turf Women’s Recreational Soccer; Northview Secondary School Women’s Volleyball) and Committee Member (Toronto International Pride Cup Soccer Tournament).

“I’m very excited about this position” Harrison says. “Pickering is a growing city with lots to offer in the way of active living facilities and outdoor recreation spaces; combined with the positive energy and forward thinking I’ve been experiencing from City staff, we have the perfect recipe for a happy, thriving and healthy community! I’m looking forward to helping facilitate that big picture!”

On her own time, Heather is living the ‘active dream’ through her participation in numerous activities. Her involvement includes floorball, soccer, volleyball, snowboarding and fitness to name a few. “I’m a big fan of trying and excelling at new activities!” Heather expresses “I’m always up for a challenge!”

Heather can be found in the Fitness office of the Pickering Recreation Complex. Please join us in welcoming Heather to the City of Pickering.
