City of Pickering launches New Free Teen Website

Pickering, ON, May 19, 2010 - August 2010 will kick off the Year of the Youth but the City of Pickering is starting early and celebrating with a new Teen Website!

The site launched on May 14th and is brighter with funky colors, easier to navigate and is designed especially for teen appeal. The site has been updated with new photos, contest info, bus routes, program schedules and a new feature where site visitors can view staff profiles. The site also has opportunities for youth to connect directly with full time Youth Staff – whether to propose a new program idea, apply to volunteer or just to say hi!

Youth Staff are thrilled and can’t wait to hear feedback from teens.

“Once again, we have proven that we are leaders in the field of Teen Services - and it shows in our work and how we continue to push the boundaries of what can be done to reach Pickering Teens. The youth area was the first to introduce Facebook at the City of Pickering, now with Twitter and our new revamped site - we continue to tap into the social marketing network that is so key to this teen generation” says Marisa Carpino, Supervisor, Culture & Recreation

Visit the site at cityofpickering.com/teen. City of Pickering Free Teen Programs & Events are free for Pickering Teens 13 – 19 years with a City ID Card. Pick up your free City ID at any program – parent signature required. For more information visit our website or call 905.420.6588.
