Claremont Fire
Hall Opens its Doors for Fire Prevention Week
Pickering, ON, October 2, 2008 -
The City of Pickering is pleased to announce that the Claremont
Fire Hall located at 4941 Old Brock Road will be open for visitors
for National Fire Prevention Week starting Sunday, October 5, 2008
from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm.
As residents of all ages enjoy a
trip to the local fire hall, they are encouraged to drop in and
meet the firefighters of Claremont Fire Hall, which commenced full
time service on September 15, 2008.
"Staffing the Claremont Fire
Hall full time, 24/7 has been a long time goal for the City of
Pickering," said Mayor Dave Ryan. "We are pleased that
we can now provide this enhanced level of safety, security and
peace of mind to the local community."
"I congratulate all of the
people involved who put a lot of time and effort in seeing this
important goal fulfilled," said Rick Johnson, Regional
Councillor - Ward 3. "It's been a long time coming, but we
Claremont residents are absolutely thrilled with now having 24/7
fire services."
"I encourage all residents to
stop by the new fire hall during National Fire Prevention
Week," said David Pickles, City Councillor - Ward 3.
"Not only will residents have an opportunity to meet our
brave firefighters, they can pick up valuable and potentially
life-saving tips relating to fire safety and prevention."
All Pickering fire halls will be
open for visitors during National Fire Prevention Week. Children
are definitely welcome and adults are invited to pick up valuable
Fire Prevention literature. Fire Services will also be set up at
the Pickering Town Centre from Tuesday, October 7th to Friday,
October 10th to answer any fire safety questions.
