History,
Alive and Well on Whitevale Road May 14 & 15
Rebellion and organized
crime, along with gracious homes and more peaceful pursuits
are all part of the history found along the Whitevale Road.
From the early 1800s to the present, Whitevale has often
been at the centre of what's happening in Pickering.
On Saturday and Sunday, May
14 and 15, you will have the opportunity to see events from
the Rebellion of 1837 and some of the nefarious activities
of the Markham Gang as part of "TIMETOUR, Drama on the
Whitevale Road". Homes along this historic road will be
the scene for the re-enactment of three events that helped
to shape Pickering and modern Canada. Casper Willson's farm,
shown here, was the scene of one daring theft by members of
the Markham Gang.

Guides in period costume will
provide informative tours and activities for young and old.
Refreshments and souvenir photographs will also be
available. Tours begin at 10:00, 11:00, noon, 1:00 and 2:00
each day and take approximately 2 hours. Passports outlining
the day's events must be purchased in advance and are now on
sale by calling Pickering Museum Village at 905.683.8401.
Adults $10, Seniors and children $5.
