Grand Opening -
Village East Medical
The City of Pickering is proud to
announce the recent opening of Village East Medical, marking a
substantial advance in the health services now available to our
residents. Village East Medical is a new, state of the art medical
facility, modeled after the Mayo Clinic. As of September 2007,
Village East Medical is home to Pickering Diagnostic Centre,
Digestive Health Clinic, and Pickering Cardiovascular Institute.
The new 7,000 sq foot facility is
located at 1031 Brock Road, near the 401. Patients will benefit
from multiple services including access to specialists in
cardiology, gastroenterology and hepatology, nuclear medicine,
radiology and general surgery. The facility is home to hospital
grade equipment, diagnostic imaging and cardiac testing.
Medical Director, Dr. Pardeep
Nijhawan, M.D., F.R.C.P (C), FA.C.G. states, "Our commitment
to high standards of patient care, using state-of-the-art
technology is reflected in our facility. We are the first facility
in Canada to house the new Philips Brightview. This nuclear
medicine camera features new technologies that allow it to get
closer to patients, for superior image resolution. In addition, we
are the first site in North America to offer Capsule Colonoscopy;
a miniature camera, once swallowed, allows the visualization of
the colon in a non-invasive manner. We are confident that the new
technologies at Village East Medical will provide top-of-the-line
clinical evaluation of our patients."
The facility allows multiple test
to be completed in one or two visits. This is the ideal facility
for cancer screening and cardiac testing in one centralized
location.
