Club president Ian Parsons and Chair of Fundraising Kevin
Cahill presented a cheque in the amount of $52,213 to the
City of Pickering for the funds raised over the past year
and a half for the doubles squash courts to be built over at
the Pickering Recreation Complex.
Big Brothers
and Sisters of Ajax/Pickering Susan Johnson & Ralph
Sutton presented a plague to thank mayor and members of
council for funds raised and their participation in the Bowl
for Kids Sake.
March 6th was
declared NHL Old Timers Day in Pickering. All Proceeds from
this event were donated back to the minor sports user
groups. On hand was Pickering Hockey Association Gary
Watters, Pickering Figure Skating Club Jim Smith, Durham
West Girls Hockey Association Teresa Muto, NHL Old Timer
Ivan Irwin, Pickering Ringette Association Al Hutton,
Pickering Fire Services Kirk Smythe.
A presentation
was made to the Pickering Museum Village Volunteers Mary
Delaney, Barbara Pleva, Katrina Pyke and Angela Steyn
received an Ontario Heritage Foundation recognition
certificate and achievement pin for significant
contributions to heritage preservation.
