> Forum for Young Canadians Forum for Young Canadians
Recently, I was sponsored by the City of
Pickering and Veridian, to go to Ottawa for a program called Forum for
Young Canadians. This program is where youth 15-19 from across Canada
can recreate parliament for week, as well as engage in interesting
activities, visit parliament, and meet important people who help make
Canada the amazing country that it is. Although I am not interested in
pursuing a career in politics, it was still a very exciting experience,
and made me think a lot about the issues facing our country and the
world around us. I had the chance to meet ministers, MPs, various public
service workers, and even the Speaker of the House of Commons! In
addition, we had fun activities such as a skit night, dance, and an MP
Dinner. I also met tons of new friends from across Canada and although
the week was busy, it was still totally worth it! Being able to interact
with and hear the views of other youth, and their perspective from their
provinces, allowed me to see and truly appreciate how diverse and
incredible Canada really is. I am very grateful to have had this
