"The City of Pickering, in partnership with the Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters, Pickering Rod & Gun Club, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Muskies Canada, was pleased to host The Ontario Family Fishing Weekend – Urban Fishing Festival on July 11, 2009 from 10 am – 1 pm at Progress Park. This year there was a special dock dedication held at 12 noon, where a plaque dedication and wood carving was unveiled by Mayor David Ryan, Councillor Bill McLean, and Pete Dickson. Over 100 people attended the event and approximately 170 fish caught, it was a “reel” success!”
