Rotary Frenchman's Bay West Park Located on the southwest shore of Frenchman's Bay the Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is the owner of the Rotary Frenchman's Bay West Park lands. Due to the diversity of vegetation and numerous significant features this site (and all of Frenchman's Bay) has been designated as an Environmentally Sensitive Area. In 2002 The City of Pickering in cooperation with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and the Rotary Club developed, with extensive public consultation, a masterplan for these public lands. The vision created for this property is that it represents a special place of outstanding natural features in an urban setting; protected, managed and fostered by the local community and service groups as a flourishing ecosystem. The objective of the park plan is to preserve, protect and enhance the valuable ecosystem components of the site; provide enhanced trails, formal parking and passive interpretive opportunities. Recent improvements on the property include additional parking, re-forestation plantings, trails and numerous wetland plantings. The stakeholders will phase this masterplan in over a number of years as money comes available from a variety of sources. Other public areas along the waterfront:
