YOUR
WINDOW SIGN - Tips For Correct Use
- Your Block Parent Window Sign should be placed
in a window where it is clearly visible from the street and
inaccessible to strangers. (NEVER PUT THE WINDOW SIGN IN A STORM
DOOR OR GARAGE WINDOW.)
- Your Block Parent Window Sign MUST BE TAKEN DOWN
WHEN YOU ARE NOT AVAILABLE, (eg. resting, out of the house, in the
backyard, having coffee next door, etc.). The children are taught in
school that they may expect assistance from any home where the Block
Parent Window Sign is displayed.
- If you are moving, or no
longer wish to participate in the Program, contact your Block Parent
Committee for instructions. The contact number is on the back of
your sign. A committee member will contact you and pick up your
sign. Remember: The signs are not transferable and are the
property of The Block Parent Program.
- If your Block Parent Window Sign needs to be
replaced (due to fading or damage), contact your Block Parent
Committee for a free replacement.

REPORTING
an INCIDENT - Your Responsibilities
- When reporting an incident to local Police
Service, state that you are a Block Parent.
- Report any suspicious or
criminal activity in your neighbourhood to local Police Service. The
Police welcome reports from citizens and will check into the
situation with no embarrassment to anyone.
- Statistics are an important part of a successful
Block Parent Program. All serious incidents are naturally reported
to the local Police Services first, but every incident involving the
use of a Block Parent Home, NO MATTER HOW TRIVIAL, MUST BE REPORTED
to the Block Parent Committee. (These statistics are entered
into the national database and are very valuable in assessing the
success of the program).
