The Traffic
Engineering Section evaluates, reviews, and drafts Municipal By-laws
for specific locations in the City of Pickering. All Municipal By-laws
require to be considered by Council and subsequently Council decides
whether to adopt the by-law. Once a by-law has been adopted, further
changes or amendments can be adopted should conditions warrant such
change.
Who
Enforces the By-Laws?
The City appoints
and employs Municipal Law Enforcement Officers and relies on the
services provided by the Durham Regional Police. Enforcement Officers
respond to complaints and enforce parking provisions under the by-laws
of the City of Pickering.
The
Benefits of Enforcement
Enforcing by-laws
provide the community services to enhance public relations, community
education, common sense, mobility within the transportation network,
and to assist the police services. The Enforcement Officers enforce
all regulatory by-laws for the municipality.
